A stopped freight train is blocking several intersections in South Broward.
Miami Herald File
A freight train stopped on the tracks blocked several major crossings early Monday morning in Broward County.
The freight train involved in a crash shut down the crossings at Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Pembroke Road on the first day of school in Broward County starting around 4 a.m., according to traffic reports.
The corridor is just west of U.S. 1 and serves freight trains as well as the Brightline passenger train. Tri-Rail, which runs on tracks to the west along the Interstate 95 corridor, wasn’t affected.
The halted train began moving north again around 6:30 a.m. Monday.
