TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man charged in connection with an armed robbery at Z-Mart earlier this year has pleaded guilty.
Laquinton Harris, 36, pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, the Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote in a press release Monday.
In the statement, the attorney’s office included several images of recovered evidence that link Harris to the armed robbery as well as what an investigation revealed.
Court records indicated that a masked gunman, later identified as the 36-year-old, robbed the Z Mart convenience store on Fred George Road back in January, “during which the gunman discharged his firearm onto the floor,” the press release said.
During the investigation of the incident, Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a bullet strike on the wooden flooring and a spent .22-caliber shell casing.
Nearly three months later, a search warrant was executed at Harris’ home, where officials said authorities found a .22-caliber rifle, which testing revealed matched the shell casing found in Z Mart, according to the statement.
Distinctive clothing matching the robber’s attire was also found in the Tallahassee man’s home.

“The defendant’s DNA was found on both the pants and gloves recovered during the search warrant,” the attorney’s office said.
Harris is expected to be sentenced Oct. 19.
He faces a minimum of 7 years in prison, a maximum of life in prison, up to 5 years of supervised release and a fine of up to $750,000.
