TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee’s Urban League hosted an event Monday to help get kids ready to head back to school.
The Back to School Bash: Crocs and Socks Giveaway was held at Griffin Middle School.
Kids and parents got help with free resources like voter registration, health screenings and housing information.
A DJ played music while hot dogs sizzled on the grill, and of course, there were lots of Crocs and socks to be given away.
Curtis Taylor, president and CEO of Tallahassee Urban League the event is about helping others and getting kids excited for school.
“We want the best for them. We want to encourage them to suck up all the knowledge they can while they’re in school,” Taylor said. “This is education and this is for you. Great education makes it possible for you to have a great life.”
The parking lot was packed and Tallahassee Urban League estimated over 300 people made it out to the event.
