WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Two major retailers are recalling Taylor Farms products sold in Florida after fresh jalapeños were linked to a multistate salmonella outbreak.

According to a Monday news release from Taylor Farms, Target and Walmart stores in Florida are recalling several products linked to the outbreak involving fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.

The outbreak is being investigated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The potential source was traced to a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, that supplies Coast Citrus Distributors.

Taylor Farms said Taylor Fresh Foods is no longer sourcing products from the grower and will fill orders using alternative suppliers.

The recalled products were distributed in the following states:

All recalled products have a “Best If Used By” date of Aug. 16, 2026, or earlier.

The product distributed at Target is a 20-ounce Taylor Farms Taco Dip with UPC 030223073581 and a “Best If Used By” date of Aug. 12, 2026.

Products distributed at Walmart include Hot or Spicy Pico de Gallo with UPC 681131276351 and Mild Pico de Gallo with UPC 681131276344. Both have “Best If Used By” dates ranging from Aug. 8 through Aug. 16, 2026.

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections, particularly in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people who become infected may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
