Jury selection for the first of three murder trials surrounding his death began on Monday. We take a look at his life.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On the evening of February 16, 2022, Jared Galen Bridegan was gunned down as he was leaving the Lake Sanctuary neighborhood in Jacksonville Beach.
Jared had dropped off his twins at the home of his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner. Left In the car with him was his two-year-old daughter.
According to officials, Bridegan turned out of the neighborhood onto a narrow, dimly lit section of the road, which was blocked by a tire that had been placed in the street. Moments later, shots rang out and Bridegan was killed.

Who was Jared Bridegan?
At the time of his death, the 33-year-old Jacksonville native had a long list of accomplishments. Before their 2015 divorce, Bridegan married Shanna Gardner in 2010. As well as being a helping hand to his community, Bridegan was a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served as a youth Sunday school teacher. Known for his kind spirit, it was normal for Bridegan to go out of his way to make those around him happy.
Jared Bridegan was a 2007 graduate of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and a 2014 graduate of Utah Valley University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Media and Cinema Production.
Bridegan went on to utilize his talents at several different companies before becoming a senior design manager of Microsoft. After his death, the Bridegan Foundation was formed in his honor.
