Worker killed by construction vehicle in work zone in Port St. Lucie overnight
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. —
A 45-year-old dump truck driver was killed after being hit by another construction vehicle inside a work zone on I-95 just south of Tradition on Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver stepped out of their dump truck on the northbound lanes and was struck by a tractor with a sweeper traveling south, repaving the area as part of an improvement project.
The construction worker was transported to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, where they later died.
The driver of the other truck was arrested on an unrelated warrant, FHP said.
