Vehicle fire shuts down northbound Florida turnpike in Martin County
A vehicle fire has shut down all northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Martin County near Becker Road. Officials say all occupants safely exited the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. —
All northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike are currently shut down in Martin County after a vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed Tuesday, authorities said.
The fire was reported at the 137-mile marker, about one mile south of Becker Road. According to officials, everyone inside the vehicle was able to get out safely, and no injuries have been reported.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays and seek alternate routes while emergency crews work to extinguish the fire and clear the roadway.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo from the scene showing the vehicle engulfed in flames.
Officials are urging drivers to use caution and avoid the area if possible as the closure remains in effect.
