Domestic battery charge against ex-NFL player Marcellus Wiley dismissed in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. —
A state attorney’s office decided the fate of an alleged battery case in Orlando involving a former NFL player and his wife.
According to court documents in Orange County, the state attorney’s office filed a no-information notice, which dismissed a domestic battery charge against Marcellus V. Wiley, 51, on Monday, Aug. 10.
“Testimonial evidence received is not corroborated by any physical or other evidence and is therefore insufficient to obtain conviction,” the state attorney’s office noted in the court filing.

Wiley was accused by his wife of “sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek” on July 3, and said he was going to “kill her” while they were with their children on a trip to a resort in Orlando during the July 4 weekend.
Wiley’s wife of 14 years told deputies on July 4 she wanted her husband removed from their shared hotel room because she was afraid of him.
Media outlet TMZ reported Wiley’s wife is “Real Housewives of Beverley Hills” Season 13 cast member Annemarie Wiley.

Marcellus spoke with deputies and denied he physically touched his wife while at the resort and added that neither he nor his wife has ever had physical violence between each other.
Court documents noted that at the time of the incident, Annemarie told deputies that she planned to divorce Marcellus once the family returned to their home in California.
Marcellus also told deputies about Annemarie’s desire to divorce him.
Marcellus released the following statement on the battery charge being dropped on social media on Monday, Aug. 10:

Wiley, a defensive lineman, played in 147 games during his 10 seasons (1997-2006) in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers (now located in Los Angeles), Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to Fox Sports.com, Wiley was a sports broadcaster for ESPN and Fox Sports after his professional football career.
