Arrest made after bystander shot, killed while trying to intervene in fight following Orange County crash
APOPKA, Fla. —
An arrest was made Tuesday following the fatal shooting of a bystander that morning after deputies say he tried to intervene in an altercation between two people at the scene of a vehicle crash.
Raul Lionel Vazquez, 26, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said on social media.

The sheriff’s office said it happened near Plymouth Sorrento and West Ponkan roads around 8:30 a.m. after reports came in about a man and woman physically fighting inside a vehicle.
That’s just east of the 429 in Apopka.
OCSO said the vehicle crashed and the two continued to fight outside of the vehicle.
“During that altercation, a bystander attempted to intervene and was shot. The bystander was transported to the hospital, where he died. All parties remained on scene and homicide detectives are actively investigating,” OCSO said.
The victim was identified as 56-year-old Daryl Alexander Hill, according to the sheriff’s office.
Chopper 2 was on scene over two damaged vehicles.
