Driver arrested for speeding through Fort Pierce school zone on first day of school
FORT PIERCE, Fla. —
A driver was arrested for allegedly speeding through a school zone on the first day of school in Fort Pierce, according to police.

The incident happened on Virginia Avenue near Lawnwood Elementary School.
Police said 24-year-old Miguel Angel Hernandez-Hernandez was driving 43 mph in a 20-mph school zone, more than double the posted speed limit.
According to investigators, Hernandez-Hernandez was also driving without a valid license.
He was arrested and booked into jail. No injuries were reported.
Police are reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert in school zones as students return to class for the new school year.
