Girl, 13, dies days after two others killed in crash on U.S. Highway 27 in South Bay
A 13-year-old girl has died following a crash in western Palm Beach County earlier this month that also claimed the lives of two others at the scene.
SOUTH BAY, Fla. —
A third person has died following a crash in western Palm Beach County earlier this month.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday, Aug. 12, that a 13-year-old girl who was a rear-seat passenger of a Cadillac XTS died on Friday, Aug. 7.
A 37-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl, both from Deerfield Beach, died at the scene of the crash on Saturday, Aug. 1.

A 15-year-old girl from Clewiston was also a passenger in the Cadillac.
The group of four was in the Cadillac traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 27 in South Bay when, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report, the Cadillac lost control, rotated and crossed the median and entered the opposite lane of traffic.
The report notes that a tractor with a fuel tanker struck the driver’s side of the Cadillac.
The Cadillac then rotated and the passenger side of the Cadillac sideswiped the front corner of a Nissan Altima before coming to a stop.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced the death of a 13-year-old boy in relation to the crash. The boy died on Friday, Aug. 7.

The impact with the tractor-trailer ejected the driver from the Cadillac, while the 13-year-old girl, who was in the rear driver-side seat, had to be removed from the vehicle by deputies.
Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful as the girl was pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel.
The second 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl were transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach after the crash.
The sheriff’s office did not provide an update on the medical condition of the 15-year-old girl who sustained serious injuries in the crash.
The report indicates all the children in the Cadillac were wearing seat belts.
The driver and a passenger in the tractor-trailer had no reported injuries, while the driver and passenger in the Nissan were transported to Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade.
