Film is back, and this month brings fans of analog photography an excuse to blow through a roll of film in one day.

Coastal Film Lab of Tampa and Central Florida Photo Club have partnered up to guide hobby photographers through Tarpon Springs on Aug. 30.

The morning meetup starts at Craig Park on Spring Bayou, where the Greek Orthodox Church has staged a winter Epiphany cross dive for the last 120 years. The trek will then take shutterbugs one mile to the world-famous Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks on Anclote River, one of the most picturesque places on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Attendees can then break out on their own for lunch before the walk regroups and takes another mile-long walk to Replay Amusement Museum which is home to vintage arcade games and pinball machines.

Coastal Film Lab owner Stephen Zane has staged photowalks before, but told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that this time his shop jumped on to an already-planned photowalk organized by Central Florida Photo Club founder James Huffstutler.

Past Coastal photowalks have seen up to 140 people show up, but Zane estimates that probably 50-70 folks will end up at this one.

“Tarpon Springs is a little bit more of a haul for most people,” he said. “For this one, 21 people are already signed up, but we just announced it yesterday.”

There’s no cover-for the Coastal Film Lab and Central Florida Photo Cub Tarpon Springs Photowalk happening Sunday, Aug. 30, but RSVP are encouraged.

Entry into Replay Amusement Museum starts at $16 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-12.
