TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Excitement is brewing in the community as the Powerball Jackpot drawing approaches.
The jackpot is now $1 billion, but the question is: Do you feel lucky enough to beat the odds?
Across the area, at gas stations or convenience stores, people might see a rush of hopeful players, all chasing tonight’s dream $1 billion Powerball jackpot.

According to the Florida Lottery, more than $7 million has been spent on Powerball tickets so far in Florida as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.
As people in the local community buy tickets, the jackpot drawing also happens in Tallahassee. A billion dollars is life-changing for anyone and that’s getting people excited.
But some, like Shane Meadors, do not normally buy a lottery ticket.
“Because it’s fun and you never know. But so we don’t do it all the time. I don’t do it all the time. Just a billion dollars is a billion dollars,” Meadors said.
Tonight’s Powerball drawing stands as the eighth-biggest jackpot in Powerball history and it only costs $2 to play.
