TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Strong to severe storms have rolled through the Big Bend and South Georgia this afternoon, bringing down some trees in South Georgia.
More strong storms are possible through this evening, but should wind down after 11 p.m.
Lows tonight will be muggy in the 70s. But you will be able to catch the Perseid meteor shower that peaks after midnight. Go away from city lights and look up. You will catch 50 to 100 meteors per hour.
Tomorrow looks like a repeat. Highs will get near record territory in the upper 90s. With the humidity, it will feel like 105 to 110, so a heat advisory is likely once again.
Scattered afternoon storms are expected for the afternoon and evening. Some storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds.
Going into the weekend, it is going to be very hot and very humid since the weather pattern is not expected to shift much. This also means a decent chance for some afternoon showers and storms on both weekend days, which should cool down the afternoons.
Next week, the heat holds on, but slightly drier air moves in. So I expect rain coverage to be a little lower, but staying HOT with highs near record territory.
