Jacksonville cops and firefighters face off again in Battle of the Badges blood drive

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC — Jacksonville’s police officers and firefighters are teaming up for a friendly competition with a lifesaving goal.

The Jacksonville Police Department and Jacksonville Fire Department will hold their annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on Thursday, Aug. 27. The American Red Cross will collect blood and plasma donations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation gym, located at 100 Recreation Lane.

Donors can support either department while helping boost the local blood supply.

Last year’s drive collected 152 units of blood, surpassing its goal. This year, organizers hope to reach 200 units.

Appointments are encouraged. Donors can visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code JacksonvilleBattleofBadges to reserve a time.
