Advisory continues for east Central Florida thanks to heat wave – Orlando Sentinel

East Central Florida is under a heat advisory from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Temperatures are in the mid-to-upper 90s with heat indices peaking at 112 degrees, according to NWS Melbourne.

A high pressure combined with below normal rain chances and higher humidity has created hotter conditions on Thursday and heading into the weekend.

There is a widespread risk of moderate and major heat.

Greater Orlando and Leesburg have extreme heat temperatures going through the weekend and into Monday.

On Thursday, isolated to scattered showers and storms are possible in the afternoon, according to NWS Melbourne.

Lightning, gusty winds and heavy downpours are the primary concerns.
