The mother of a 5-year-old girl who was shot and killed at their Florida City home in June has been arrested in connection to her death, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
On June 10, right before 2 a.m., officers from the Florida City Police Department were called out to the home and arrived to find Ashley Hosendove, 32, holding her daughter Ja’Nova Parks in a blood soaked blanket, according to her arrest affidavit.
Officers drove Hosendove and Ja’Nova to Baptist Health Homestead Hospital. Hosendove told police that it was her 4-year-old son who had shot her daughter. Three adults, including Hosendove, were inside the home when the girl was shot, deputies say.
She is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child under 18 and culpable negligence.
