A Texas man who arrived at Miami International Airport on a flight from Colombia carrying hundreds of hydrocodone pills was arrested on drug trafficking charges, authorities said.
Marcus Perry, 50, was arrested Wednesday on charges of hydrocodone trafficking and importing a controlled substance into Florida, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
According to an arrest report, Perry had arrived at MIA on a flight from Medellin and was selected for a Customs and Border Protection search.
Perry, whose address in the report is in Little Elm, north of Dallas, was carrying two blue backpacks and inside one authorities found a black plastic bag concealing hydrocodone pill packets, the report said.
In total, there were 460 pills that field tested positive for hydrocodone, the report said.
Perry told investigators he didn’t have a prescription for the pills, and he was arrested and booked into jail, the report said. Attorney information wasn’t available.
