BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — Former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was back in Baldwin County court Thursday after being arrested for the second time on drug charges.
The former Tallahassee mayor and one-time democratic nominee for Florida governor appeared in a Baldwin County drug court while still in custody.
Gillum — arrested in July following a traffic stop in Daphne — is accused of having meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle.
Last week, his bond was revoked and he was sent back to the Baldwin County Jail after court records show he missed a required drug screening and tested positive for methamphetamine.
WEAR News’ cameras could not see Gillum in court Thursday, as he was separated from the general public.
When his case was called, only the ADA and Gillum’s attorney spoke with the judge. The public could not hear that conversation.
While most of the conversation was held at the bench, the judge could be heard telling Gillum’s attorney multiple times he was not going to do anything differently than how he treats others in drug court.
Gillum’s next court date is set for Aug. 27.
