TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Firefighters knocked down a blaze that tore through a single-wide mobile home on Hickory Lane after crews were dispatched at about 10:13 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, Tallahassee fire officials said.
The Tallahassee Fire Department arrived to find heavy fire showing from the front of the home, with flames involving a bedroom and hallway. The homeowner was already outside when crews arrived after getting a dog out of the home.
Firefighters deployed hose lines and launched an interior attack, bringing the fire under control in about 10 minutes and fully extinguishing it within 15 minutes. Crews completed primary and secondary searches, and no injuries were reported.
The home is not currently livable. The American Red Cross was not requested because the homeowner had alternate accommodations. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Responding units included BC1, BC3, R13, TA13, E101, E3, T1, TA1 and FM1. The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS and Talquin Electric Cooperative.
Fire officials urged residents to regularly check electrical cords, outlets and appliances for signs of damage or overheating, maintain working smoke alarms throughout the home, and call 911 immediately if they see or smell signs of a fire.
