Gillum in court: Former Tallahassee mayor appears in Baldwin County on drug charges

  • August 13, 2026

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Andrew Gillum appeared in a Baldwin County courtroom Thursday, remaining behind bars after his bond was revoked last week.

Gillum served as mayor of Tallahassee from 2014 to 2018 and was the Democratic nominee for Florida governor in 2018, losing to Ron DeSantis.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

On July 2, Gillum was pulled over in Daphne for allegedly driving erratically. Police allegedly found a glass pipe, marijuana, and three packs of a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine. He was released the following day.

Bond revoked after failed drug test

Gillum’s bond was revoked last Thursday after he failed a drug test in court. He remains in custody. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 27.
