TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Chaires Little League made history this summer as the first 12U team to win state, and the first to play in the Southeast Region Tournament. Babe Ruth baseball has long been dominated by Tallahassee teams. Both the 13U and 14U teams won the World Series just last summer.
Both teams well on their way to a repeat. The 14’s are already playing in Eagle Pass, Texas, while the 13’s begin their journey in Jamestown, New York this weekend.
Babe Ruth baseball in the Capital City has a rich tradition. The organization boasts nearly a dozen World Series titles. The importance of carrying on that legacy is one that’s not lost on this group, and to be able to continue that tradition, and go back-to-back in the 13U division, is something they really want to do.
“My dad, he played Babe Ruth here and one of my teammates Gabe Harper, he’s had multiple teammates play here, so there’s really a legacy,” said Ben Campbell. “We’ve worked a lot this summer and it’s going to be really fun out there and we hope to win.”
“It’s very exciting because we’ve worked so hard for this and we won a lot of games against a lot of good teams, so it’s not really that much pressure,” added teammate Harvey Reichert.
The first game for the 13’s is set for Saturday at 4:30 when they face the Pacific Northwest.
