Tavares man dies after Orange County crash, FHP says

A 33-year-old Tavares man died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Jones Avenue, approaching Dirt Drive, troopers said.

For unknown reasons, the man lost control of a pickup truck while traveling westbound on Jones Avenue and ran off the roadway left onto the shoulder, according to an FHP crash report.

The truck then overturned and landed on its roof, the report states.

The driver was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
