Broward County Public Schools is giving a new identity to established educational programs at two Margate elementary schools. Atlantic West Elementary School and Liberty Elementary School have offered specialized STEM-focused learning for several years. The programs are now being rebranded as part of the district’s emphasis on Magnet and Innovative Programs.
BCPS uses Magnet and Innovative Programs to connect student interests with specialized educational opportunities. Magnet Programs allow eligible students to attend theme-based programs outside their assigned school boundaries, with transportation available within designated zones. Innovative Programs serve students within a school’s attendance boundary and incorporate specialized themes into the regular school experience.
Atlantic West Elementary School offers an Innovative STEM Program for students from Pre-K through Grade 5. The established program uses science experiments and project-based activities to introduce students to STEM concepts while developing problem-solving skills.
Liberty Elementary School continues its longstanding focus on science and technology through its Science and Technology Innovative Program. Students participate in technology-supported instruction and hands-on projects that connect classroom concepts with practical applications.
The rebranding places both schools within BCPS’s broader Innovative Programs framework while maintaining programs that have already served Margate students for years. For families, the new branding provides a more consistent way to identify specialized learning opportunities available within Broward County Public Schools.
