Person dies after shooting at St. Lucie County mobile home park, investigation ongoing
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. —
A person died after being shot Wednesday night at a residence in the Seminole Mobile Home Park community, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Operations Bureau and personnel from the St. Lucie County Fire District responded to the 3300 block of Orange Avenue at approximately 9:11 p.m. on Aug. 12 following reports of a shooting.
According to investigators, the initial caller reported that an individual had been shot while allegedly attempting to enter a residence.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigators responded to both the scene and the hospital as the investigation unfolded. Authorities later obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence, where they recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Investigators remained at the scene overnight, processing evidence and conducting interviews. Detectives and crime scene personnel completed their work and cleared the residence at approximately 6:11 a.m. Thursday.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
At this time, authorities believe the incident was isolated and say there is no known immediate threat to the surrounding community.
