Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday became the latest elected Republican to declare he would not support Rep. Cory Mills’s (R) reelection bid in Florida’s 7th Congressional District.

“I have not endorsed Cory Mills, and I do not support Cory Mills,” the Florida governor said when asked during a Friday press conference, captured by C-SPAN cameras, whom he would back in next week’s Republican primary.

The GOP representative has lost support from several lawmakers in the Florida congressional delegation amid an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations of dating violence and campaign finance law violations, among others. Mills has denied the accusations.

Mills’s office did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment on the governor’s statement.

This is not the first time that Mills and DeSantis have clashed on the public stage. The congressman backed President Trump over the governor in the 2024 presidential election. DeSantis later picked Sen. Ashley Moody (R), who was the Florida attorney general at the time, over Mills to fill Marco Rubio’s Senate seat after he was nominated as secretary of State.

Trump backed Mills in February, but the president has not reupped his support since — despite reposting his endorsements for several other Florida campaigns ahead of the state’s Republican primary next week.

Earlier this month, Florida GOP Reps. Anna Paulina Luna and Mike Haridopolos endorsed Mills’s Republican challenger Ryan Elijah, a former local TV news anchor, in the primary race.

In a joint statement shared on social media last week, the two Republicans praised Elijah as a “true patriot and freedom fighter.”

“We need leaders in Congress who serve with integrity, energy, and an unwavering commitment to the people who sent them there. Ryan Elijah is that leader,” they wrote. “We are confident he will represent our shared values with distinction and deliver results for the families of Seminole and Volusia Counties.”

Elijah reposted the governor’s remarks about Mills on Friday. But DeSantis has not said whether he would endorse another candidate in the race. The Hill has also reached out to the Florida governor’s office for comment.
