The Miami Hurricanes kick off the 2026 season on Sept. 4 on the road against the Stanford Cardinal (9 p.m., ESPN).
The Miami Herald is counting down 30 of the most important players on the Hurricanes’ roster, one per day leading up to the season opener, to provide a closer look at the team heading into coach Mario Cristobal’s fifth season.

In summary: Brown has played for national championships each of the past two years — first at the FCS level with North Dakota State in 2024 and then with Miami last season. Doing it again with the Hurricanes isn’t out of question. Brown is a physical, run-it-up-the-middle running back that wears down an opposing defense over time. More than three quarters of his rushing yards last season — 348 of 460 — came after first contact — and he forced 25 missed tackles on 122 carries. He complements the rest of the running back room — headlined by Mark Fletcher Jr., Jordan Lyle and Girard Pringle Jr. — well.
