Florida Keys investigation leads to arrest of Boca Raton man
A Boca Raton man has been charged with grand theft and burglary after authorities say he stole about $8,000 worth of fishing equipment from a man he worked for in the Florida Keys.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said 51-year-old Dennis Boyd Chambless was arrested Aug. 13 and charged with grand theft and burglary. Investigators say the case involves the theft of about $8,000 worth of fishing rods and reels.
According to deputies, Chambless was working as a fishing mate for the victim in Islamorada in January 2026 while the victim was renting a residence in the area. After returning to Alabama, the victim realized two electric reels and rods were missing.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Chambless allegedly pawned one of the rod-and-reel combinations at a pawn shop in Oakland Park. Authorities said the victim later identified the fishing equipment as his property.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant, and Chambless was booked into jail Thursday.
