Five displaced after garage fire damages Orlando duplex, OFD says
3 adults, 2 children displaced and no injuries reported
ORLANDO, Fla. —
Firefighters are investigating what caused a garage fire that left five people without a home Saturday morning in Orlando.
Three adults and two children were displaced after a fire damaged a duplex in the 30 block of E. Princeton Street, according to the Orlando Fire Department
Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from an attached garage. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and searched both units, confirming no occupants were trapped inside, the fire department said in a statement.
Most of the damage was contained to the garage and garage attic, preventing the fire from spreading significantly into the living areas, firefighters said, adding no injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced residents, and Code Enforcement was notified, according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters reportedly stayed at the scene to monitor for possible flare-ups.
