Fort Pierce shooting leaves 5-year-old without father as ex-girlfriend seeks justice
37-year-old man was shot and killed inside a Fort Pierce mobile home after a fight, leaving his 5-year-old son without a father as his ex-girlfriend demands answers.
FORT PIERCE, Fla. —
A 37-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday night inside a mobile home at the Seminole Mobile Home Park on Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s not fair because my son has no father now. He’s 5 years old. What am I going to tell him?” said Naomi Pallarez, the victim’s ex-girlfriend.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting happened inside trailer 51. The victim reportedly entered the home, where a 22-year-old man, his sister, and his girlfriend were present.
The sheriff said the two men, who knew each other, had been arguing over text messages before the incident.
“The shooter allowed the person to come inside, at which time he was attacked by being pushed and then punched in the stomach multiple times,” said Sheriff Richard R. Del Toro Jr.
The sheriff said the 22-year-old man then pulled out a gun and shot the victim once.
Pallarez, who shares a 5-year-old son with the victim, expressed her heartbreak.
“I am very much heartbroken, and now I am a single mom,” she said. “We didn’t even get to say goodbye, do anything. His birthday is Saturday. The father of my child’s birthday is Saturday, and he’s gone.”
Investigators said it is unclear what sparked the tension between the two men.
As of the latest update, no charges have been filed in the case.
