Deputy Mark Budensiek, cousin of Martin County sheriff, dies from cancer
He served as a corrections officer for 15 years.
STUART, Fla. —
Martin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Mark Budensiek, the cousin of Sheriff John M. Budensiek, died Saturday after “a courageous battle with cancer,” the agency said.
Mark Budensiek, 42, was hired under Sheriff Robert Crowder in the Corrections Department in 2011.
He leaves behind his wife and 14-year-old daughter “who were the center of his life,” MCSO posted.

“Our hearts are with Mark’s family, friends, fellow deputies and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him,” the agency posted on Facebook. “His dedication, sacrifice and service to our community will never be forgotten.”
The sheriff was sworn into office on Jan. 7, 2025, and has been employed by the agency since 1997.
