TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Heat Advisory: Everyone remains under a heat advisory in the Big Bend and South Georgia. The reason the National Weather Service issues the alert is we expect feels-like temperatures to reach 108 to 112 again this afternoon. It will be more humid than yesterday, especially in the morning.

Warm and clear as you head out the door this morning. Most of the day will be dry and partly sunny. However, there will be some afternoon summertime thunderstorms and showers mainly after lunch.

Today’s coverage of showers and storms will be greater than yesterday, as Saturday’s showers underperformed and high pressure won out. Any storms that do develop may contain brief gusty winds 40 to 50 mph and intense rainfall.

As far as the waters and waves, conditions are fine. With the chance of thunderstorms both inland and near the coast, be sure to keep an eye on the radar before heading out to the Gulf waters or local rivers.

High pressure will stay in the southern U.S. through midweek before drifting to our west. Early this week looks like the peak of our prolonged heat wave. I am forecasting a high of 99 Monday through Wednesday, which comes close to the record highs for Tallahassee. Scattered afternoon storms remain in the picture both days.

The heatwave loosens its grip late week as the pattern shifts and high pressure exits the region, giving us a better opportunity for showers and thunderstorms earlier in the day, a more typical summer heat and humidity.
Tropical Outlook
Both tropical waves I have been tracking for the last few days are no longer of interest and lost their battle to wind shear and dust. This means for the next 7 days, there is no threat in the tropics.

I will continue to monitor for any changes, but nothing to worry about right now as we head toward the peak of the season.
Meanwhile, Lala is a hurricane and bringing impacts to Hawaii today. Hurricane and tropical storm conditions should wrap up by the end of today.
