Nico, the Parrot, absolutely loves a rainy, stormy day. Lucky for him, he and his human family live in Florida, where it rains nearly every day, so he can bask in the rain all the time. It’s interesting how some animals (and birds) love the rain, while others, like my pups, feel like they might melt under the weight of a single raindrop.

Honestly, this 1-year-old Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot lives in the perfect spot to get his fill of rain while still enjoying plenty of sunshine, too. His mom recently posted a TikTok video of Nico basking in the rain, flapping his wings, and soaking up as much water as he could.

His family has a perch set up on the patio for the Parrot, and he spends most of his day there. As the video rolls, Nico makes all sorts of noises and says things like, “Oh boy,” and “Water,” according to his mom. This Parrot is a real character and clearly knows how to enjoy life to the fullest.

TikToker @lindsey said, “He is so happy. His colors are STUNNING!” His mom replied, “Yes, he loves the rain. It’s his favorite thing. And Nico thanks you for the compliment on his feathers!”

According to the National Audubon Society, Nico’s species is endangered, and conservation efforts are ongoing. They are mostly green in color, with the exception of the bright yellow feathers on their heads. They also have a touch of red feathers on their shoulders.

Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrots are stocky birds who typically measure about 14 inches in length. They are also known for their exceptional mimicking skills and can learn to vocalize human speech. Their ability to mimic human speech is considered second only to that of the African Grey Parrot.
