Guns and kilos of cocaine seized in big Treasure Coast drug bust
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. —
A three-month narcotics investigation in Martin County has led to 17 arrests, the seizure of drugs and guns, and more than 200 felony charges, according to authorities.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said deputies, working with federal partners, seized 4 kilos of cocaine, 8 guns, and other drugs, including marijuana.
“We’re working together with our federal partners to keep our community safe. Martin County residents don’t have an appetite for this type of behavior in their county,” Budensiek said.
The operation, named “Operation Beneath the Surface,” focused on the Village of Indiantown near the Booker Park community.
“For Indiantown, which is where these drugs came from, it’s a significant case. One of the more significant cases that we’ve had out in the Indiantown area,” Budensiek said.
One notable arrest was Cecil Trimble, who investigators allege ran a detail business out of his home and other locations in Indiantown. Detectives said the business was a front for drug trafficking.
“He was supplying Indiantown; he was supplying drug dealers in Stuart, he was supplying drug dealers in Port St. Lucie, and he has also used other individuals to mule cocaine to Daytona Beach,” Budensiek said.
Budensiek said the defendants collectively face more than 200 felony charges, estimating the street value of the seized cocaine to be between $100,000 and $200,000.
“It’s our mission to go out and make the citizens of Martin County safer and take these drugs off the street,” Budensiek said.
