For those thinking of the next staycation destination for a quick getaway or the upcoming Labor Day weekend, take note; Key West is the U.S. vacation destination Floridians search for most, according to newly released research.
The study, conducted by luxury travel advisory The Resorts Collection, analyzed 12 months of Google search volumes across 100 popular U.S. destinations to determine which spots Florida residents research most when planning a getaway. Key West topped the list with an average of 1,138 searches a month, followed by Orlando (890) and California’s Yosemite (498).
Las Vegas and North Carolina’s Outer Banks rounded out the top five.

Closer to home, Miami also made the cut, landing at No. 9 with 223 average monthly searches, one of four Florida destinations, alongside Key West, Orlando and Destin, to crack the top 10.
The data also showed Florida leans local when it comes to travel planning, with 54.2% of the state’s vacation-related searches focused on U.S. destinations rather than international trips.
Florian Pauly, co-founder of The Resorts Collection, said the findings point to what Floridians want from time off.
“Searches for spots such as Key West tell you what people in Florida really want from a break, which is somewhere to switch off rather than somewhere to rush around,” Pauly said, adding that an unhurried day tends to be what people remember most.
Key West leads, but a hometown favorite made the list too.
