BRADY, Neb. (KNOP) – A Florida man is dead after an I-80 crash west of Brady on Saturday.
The Nebraska State Patrol was called to a semi fire on I-80 westbound at mile marker 198 at 9:20 p.m. Upon arrival, troopers found a crash that had occurred between two semis.
According to NSP, the second semi had been parked on the shoulder and had begun merging back into the driving lane when it was struck by the other semi. The driver of the other semi, a man from Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the merging semi was not injured.
NSP is conducting a full crash reconstruction investigation, including a post-crash commercial vehicle investigation.
NSP was assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Maxwell Volunteer Fire Department, Brady Volunteer Fire Department, Ron’s Towing, North Platte Police Department and Nebraska Department of Roads.
I-80 westbound from Gothenburg to North Platte was closed for over six hours.
