Fire prompts evacuation at Stuart apartment complex
A fire at The Sovana at Stuart apartment complex on Sunday afternoon led to evacuations, but no injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to a single unit.

Fire rescue personnel responded to a reported fire on Sunday afternoon. A spokesperson for Martin County Fire Rescue said that its personnel, along with Stuart Fire Rescue personnel, responded to a fire inside The Sovana at Stuart apartment complex, located on the 1900 block of Northwest Federal Highway in Stuart.
The fire began at 1:56 p.m. inside an apartment near a resident’s stove. When fire rescue crews arrived at the scene, the third-floor apartment and hallway were filled with smoke.

Fire Rescue crews quickly evacuated the building and extinguished the fire.

The spokesperson said no one was hurt or transported to a hospital. The fire was contained to the apartment it started in, and no other units were burned. Residents were allowed to return inside the apartment complex.
