PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Fire & EMS crews extinguished a recreational vehicle fire that extended to the garage of a home over the weekend.
Crews were dispatched at 2:31 p.m. Sunday. While en route, they saw a column of smoke.
When crews arrived at the location of the fire, on Sansedro Street in Port Charlotte, they found an RV “fully engulfed” in flames, according to Charlotte County Fire & EMS officials.
Upon arrival, crews found that flames from an RV parked in front of the home spread to the house, burning the garage.
No one was home at the time of the fire, according to officials.
Crews immediately worked to extinguish the fire and were able to contain the flames to the garage. Officials said that prevented the fire from reaching the living areas of the home.
Nobody was injured.
Charlotte County Fire & EMS Public Information Officer Ashley Turner said one firefighter was transported from the Sunday afternoon fire with a “heat related” issue. The firefighter was transported out of an abundance of caution, she said.
After an investigation, the cause of the fire remains unknown, according to officials.
