The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is sharing a request for help from the Orange County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office to locate three people accused in a cemetery-theft investigation.
According to the SBI, investigators are trying to locate 33-year-old Drake Lee Milam, 32-year-old Porsche Bancroft, and 52-year-old Angela Garrett.
All three are from Indianapolis, Indiana, and could be anywhere in the southeastern U.S., according to the SBI.
The SBI said the three are accused of breaking into cemetery niches and stealing heirlooms connected to cremated remains across the country. Warrants have been issued for all three. If located, they would be extradited to Florida to face charges, according to the SBI.
Investigators said the group has targeted cemeteries in at least nine states, with 20 known cases in Florida alone. Officials believe there could be more cases.
The Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution has taken over the case, according to the SBI.
Central Florida Crimeline is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call 800-423-TIPS, or 800-423-8477.
Families are also encouraged to check their loved ones’ resting places to make sure items left there have not been disturbed.
The accusations are allegations, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
