Port St. Lucie mayoral candidates make final pitch to voters
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. —
Voters in Port St. Lucie will head to the polls Tuesday to decide who will lead the city as its next mayor.
Incumbent Mayor Shannon Martin is seeking another term and faces challengers Steven Giordano and Eric Strazzeri.

All three candidates spoke with WPBF 25 News on Monday about their priorities for the city, with issues ranging from infrastructure and public safety to government spending and quality of life.

Martin said one of her top priorities is continuing to invest in the city while protecting the quality-of-life residents have come to expect.
“My main goal is to continue to move the city forward, while protecting our quality of life that our residents expect, and that means we’re going to continue to invest in roads and infrastructure. We’re going to maintain our commitment to public safety,” Martin said.
Giordano said he wants to bring a different approach to city hall, with a focus on spending, transparency and adding more amenities for families.
“We currently don’t have a downtown area. We don’t have a children’s museum. We don’t have a water park or an aquarium. So those are all things that I’ll be looking into, bringing to our community for better services,” Giordano said.
Strazzeri said fiscal responsibility is at the top of his list, along with improving roads, drainage and overall quality of life.
“So goal number one is obviously the fiscal responsibility, ensuring that we’re spending the people’s money the right way. But then it goes right into fixing these roads immediately and the drainage and then improving the quality of life for everyone,” Strazzeri said.
Polls in Port St. Lucie open Tuesday at 7 a.m.
