TAMPA, Fla. — Today’s A+ Teacher started helping at his mom’s bilingual preschool at just nine years old. Daniel Aristizabal, or Mr. Danny, would read to the kids and play with them. Now he teaches VPK at My Little Giants Day school and helps run the school. He teaches students in both English and Spanish.

“He’s a good teacher. He grows with me in the daycare,” said Adriana Collins, the owner of My Little Giants Day School and Aristizabal’s mom.

“I would read books to the kids for example and I saw how just reading a book is such a big impact on kids,” said Aristizabal.

While he was studying accounting in college, Aristizabal coached soccer and tutored kids. He quickly realized he belonged at the preschool teaching.

“That just showed me I love teaching and I love the passion behind it. You get to see the kids learning stuff and it’s awesome,” said Aristizabal.

]Aristizabal tells us he loves working with his mom.

“Having good mentors in your life to help you push forward and be a better version of yourself every day is important and she has shown me that with showing me how to be a good character, having good morals, good beliefs,” said Aristizabal.

He went on to say, “We’re building the early steps to a kids’ future. These are the early foundation that we have to build in order for them to want to read, want to do math.”
