MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A Florida woman took a scam beyond the phone lines, showing up at a Martin County resident’s door pretending to represent a bank and demanding the victim’s credit card on Monday.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Monique Love Turnbull, of Miami, was seen at a victim’s doorstep claiming the victim’s bank account had been compromised. Turnbull asked for the victim’s credit card and said she would dispose of it.
As law enforcement investigated, deputies were alerted to another call identifying Turnbull in a separate case. Body camera video shows deputies pulling Turnbull over and asking her to step out of the car.

The arresting deputy then tells Turnbull she is under arrest for fraud before placing her in handcuffs.
The sheriff’s office is warning residents never to allow someone into their home if the person was not scheduled to visit. Residents should also never hand over credit cards, cash, gold or other valuables to someone who shows up unexpectedly.
MCSO says anyone who comes to a resident’s home claiming to represent a bank or financial institution and asking for valuables should be treated with suspicion. Residents are urged to call 911.
