Miami-Dade Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted in connection with an arson investigation at a Chevron gas station in southwest Miami-Dade.
According to investigators, the incident happened at approximately 2 a.m. on August 13, 2026, at the Chevron station located at 8698 Southwest 40th Street. Authorities say the unidentified man walked onto the property carrying a bag and a cardboard sign that read, “Cuban Lives Matter End Embargo.”
Detectives say the suspect approached pump number two, placed the bag on top of the fuel pump, and then intentionally set the pump on fire before fleeing the area. Investigators say he was last seen running south on Southwest 87th Avenue from Bird Road.
The suspect is described as an unknown male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark shoes, gloves, and a distinctive white armband with black stripes on his left arm.
The case is being investigated by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Organized Crimes Bureau, Economic Crimes Section.
