Polls have closed in South Florida, with Miami-Dade voters set to choose which candidates will run for congressional seats in three of the region’s districts.

Voters in the county will determine which candidates will run in the Nov. election to compete for seats in District 24, which includes parts of Miami Gardens, North Miami and Opa-Locka, District 25, which includes part of the coast running from Miami-Dade County to Palm Beach County and District 27, which includes parts of Coral Gables, South Miami, Pinecrest and Kendall.

District 24’s seat is currently held by Frederica Wilson, a Democrat, who is not running for reelection and has endorsed Democrat Oliver G. Gilbert, former mayor of Miami Gardens.

District 25 was redrawn during Florida’s mid-decade redistricting — though Democrat Debbie Wasserman Shultz previously represented the district, she is seeking election in District 20.

District 27’s seat is currently held by Maria Elvira Salazar, a Republican, who was originally elected in Nov. of 2020. She has since been reelected two times, and is running once again.

Initial results show Scott Singer ahead in the District 25 Republican race, while Jared Moskowitz is ahead among the district’s Democrats. Republican Maria Elvira Salazar is ahead in District 27, with Eliott Rodriguez ahead among the district’s Democrats. Democrat Oliver G. Gilbert is ahead in District 24.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. in South Florida on Aug. 18. Results for the races will be updated as they are released.

Only contested races, with more than one candidate on the ballot, are included, and only the top three vote-getters are displayed. Winners of today’s Republican and Democratic primary races will proceed to the general election, to be held on Nov. 3, 2026.
