Tuesday’s primary elections in Florida feature partisan races for governor, U.S. Senate, and several key U.S. House races. We’re bringing you the latest updates live

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Live Updates: 

8:00 p.m.: The Associated Press has declared Angie Nixon the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. She will face incumbent Sen. Ashley Moody. 

The Associated Press also declared winners in both Florida Governor primaries. Byron Donalds wins the Republican nomination while David Jolly wins the Democratic nomination.

7:54 p.m.: First Coast News is calling the Clay County School Board District 1, 4 and 5 races. The District 1 winner is incumbent Erin Skipper. District 4 is incumbent Michele Hanson. District 5 is incumbent Ashley Gilhousen.

7:31 p.m.: The Associated Press has called the U.S. House District 4 Democratic primary for LaShonda Holloway, who will go on to face Republican incumbent Rep. Aaron Bean for the third time. 

7:28 p.m.: The Associated Press has called the U.S. House District 5 Republican primary for incumbent John Rutherford. He will face Democrat Rachel Grage.

7:24 p.m.: The Associated Press has called the U.S. House District 5 Democratic Primary for Rachel Grage. She’s expected to face Republican incumbent and former Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford.

7:00 p.m.: Polls have closed across Northeast Florida. Check here for the latest results as they come in.

6:38 p.m.: With 30 minutes left until polls close, voter turnout in Duval County sits at just under 23 percent, with more than 146,000 votes reported. Republican election day turnout has been outpacing Democratic turnout in the county roughly three-to-two, with more than 35,000 Republican voters turning out on election day to 24,000 Democrats.

The full picture of voter turnout will materialize by the end of the night.

Florida voters headed to the polls for the 2026 Florida primary elections on Tuesday.

A hotly-contested Republican governor primary race comes to an end Tuesday as voters choose the party’s nominee to run to replace term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis. 

On the Democratic side, former Republican congressman David Jolly is the frontrunner for the nomination. 

Voters are also choosing nominees to run for U.S. Senate. 

Sen. Ashley Moody faces voters for her seat for the first time. She was appointed by Gov. DeSantis in 2025 to replace Marco Rubio upon his appointment to Secretary of State. 

The Democratic primary for U.S. Senate features moderate Alex Vindman, former Trump Administration national security council member, and progressive Angie Nixon, Florida State House member who hails from Jacksonville’s Moncrief neighborhood. 

Duval County voters are also choosing a new city councilmember to replace Terrance Freeman for City Council At-Large Group 1. Freeman is vacating the seat to run for state office.
