Kevin Guthrie has resigned as executive director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, doing so a day after being announced as Jay Collins’ running mate for governor.

Collins, Florida’s lieutenant governor, lost the gubernatorial race on Tuesday, but Gov. Ron DeSantis said he accepted Guthrie’s resignation.

Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue will replace Guthrie while remaining in his role at FDOT, according to the governor’s office.
