PENSACOLA, Fla. — Congressman Jimmy Patronis defeated two challengers on Tuesday for the republican slot of Florida’s 1st Congressional District race.
The Associated Press called the Primary race for Patronis at 7:17 p.m. CT. He defeated Douglas Chico and John Frankman by earning 75% of the votes.
He’ll now face democrat Gay Valimont in November, as well as no party-affiliation Tyler Davis.
Patronis recently defeated Valimont in April 2025 in a special election to replace Matt Gaetz. In that race, he earned 57% of the vote, while Valimont finished with 42%.
A democrat hasn’t won the District 1 seat since 1992.
