Impact Weather: Central Florida faces triple-digit heat index before storms roll in
ORLANDO, Fla. —
Central Florida is in for another round of hot afternoons as high heat and humidity push the feels-like temperatures to dangerous levels.
The heat index is expected to reach between 108 and 112 degrees in parts of the region, prompting heat advisories.
As the afternoon progresses, showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread.
Rain coverage is forecast to reach about 60%, bringing a better chance for downpours, lightning and gusty winds.
The increase in storm activity will also provide some relief from the heat.
As more storms develop through the week, temperatures are expected to trend a few degrees cooler.
