Dramatic restaurant video captures the moment a local officer saved a life. Miami Beach Police Sergeant Alex Bello wasn’t even scheduled to work Saturday. But while eating lunch at La Vina Aragon Restaurant y Cafeteria, located at 8155 W. Eighth Ave. in Hialeah, he spotted an elderly man in a life-or-death crisis.
The senior citizen was completely unable to breathe due to a food blockage. Bello jumped up immediately and wrapped his arms around the victim, performing the Heimlich maneuver.
A few sharp abdominal thrusts successfully cleared the senior’s airway. The department says it’s a perfect example of police serving communities everywhere.
