Florida’s primary election results are in

Progressive State Representative Angie Nixon defeated retired US Army Colonel Alexander Vindman.

David Jolly handily won the Democratic nomination for the Florida governor’s race. Jolly is running alongside former Democratic Congress member Gwen.

Charlie Crist won a large plurality of votes and will face incumbent St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch in November’s runoff.

State Representative James Buchanan defeated Vic Rohe in Sarasota.

In other State Senate contests, Democrat Gerald Baldi of Bradenton won the primary and in Pinellas County, Democrat Karla Kemp of St. Petersburg did.

All 16 Florida House incumbents facing primary challengers survived yesterday.

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson won their nominations, so Annette Taddeo will take on Ingoglia and Joey Mendoza Atkins will take on Simpson.
